The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio is one of fourteen districts nation-wide that have been selected for the Cameras in the Courtroom pilot project of the Judicial Conference of the United States. As a participant in this pilot project, certain civil proceedings, subject to the approval of the presiding judge and the parties involved, will be permitted to be captured by video recording by court staff and disseminated to interested media outlets through the court’s website.
The Court has recently implemented some modifications to its Local Rule of Practice
83.2 as reflected in General Order No. 11-01 to allow the video recording of certain proceedings.
Parties in eligible civil cases will be formally asked whether they would consent to have certain proceedings recorded, and consent for one hearing will not be construed as consent for future hearings in the same case. Participating Judges include the Honorable Edmund A. Sargus Jr., the Honorable Gregory L. Frost, and the Honorable Michael H. Watson.
