Judge Norah McCann King
OFFICE ADDRESS BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Judge King began her legal career as a law clerk to United States District Judge Joseph P. Kinneary. Thereafter, she was employed as Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University and engaged in the private practice of law in Columbus, Ohio. Judge King was appointed to her first eight-year term as United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Ohio in June 1982 and has been re-appointed to three additional terms. She served as Chief Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Ohio from 2000 to 2004. Judge King also served for many years as the coordinator of the Settlement Week program at the Columbus seat of court. Over the years, Judge King has taught courses in legal writing, mediation and trial practice at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. The Columbus Bar Association conferred its Award of Merit on Judge King in 1990. In 2007, the Ohio Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates recognized Judge King with its Professionalism Award. In 2009, Judge King was honored by the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with the William K. Thomas Distinguished Jurist Award. |
