About 30 new citizens from 17 different countries were naturalized at Springboro High School in front of students, school administration and the local mayor.

The ceremony was the second straight year the Court convened a special session at the high school. The ceremony was recorded and will be shown to students in a classroom setting as a lesson on civics and the role of the judiciary.

The Honorable Guy R. Humphrey presided over the hearing and welcomed the new citizens, encouraging them take advantage of the opportunities the country has to offer.

Springboro Mayor John Agenbroad spoke briefly during the ceremony and congratulated the new citizens.

During the ceremony, the pledge of allegiance was recited, the Springboro Choir sang the national anthem and the school’s Junior ROTC greeted the new citizens and their families as they entered the auditorium.
