“I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution." - Thomas Jefferson

Welcome future jurors,

On behalf of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, I am pleased to welcome you to our Court. Jury service is one of the most important civic duties; our justice system cannot operate without your participation.

Here in the juror section of our website, you will find general information as it relates to your service and answers to commonly asked questions. I encourage you to browse this section of our website to learn more about what to expect.

Please know that no prior expertise is required to serve on a jury. We only ask that you come to our Court with an open mind and be ready to cooperate with fellow jurors and our Court staff.

We understand that serving on a jury may cause a burden, but the Constitution requires that we impanel juries to decide most civil and criminal trials. We are grateful that you will serve, and I am confident you will find your experience rewarding.

Thank you for agreeing to participate in our Democracy.

Chief Judge Sarah D. Morrison
