Magistrate Judge Abel Retiring from the Bench
Judge Mark Abel began his service as a magistrate judge May 1, 1971 and retired January 2, 2010, but he continued to serve as a full-time recalled magistrate judge. He is retiring from the bench when his current recall term ends March 2, 2015.
I greatly appreciates the privilege I have enjoyed of serving as a magistrate judge and deeply value the collegiality of my colleagues on the bench and the zealous advocacy of the litigators who appeared before me.
Although I will miss coming in every day to work with my fellow judges, courthouse employees, and my hard working staff as well as meeting regularly with all those who have appeared before me over the years, my wife Marti and I look forward to a full retirement that will let us spend more time with our family and friends, travel more often, pursue community service, and just sit back and relax.
Thank you all. I know I will miss seeing you but look forward to an active, happy retirement.
Mark Abel
