BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Magistrate Judge Shimeall graduated from the College of Wooster in 2006, majoring in Classical Languages and minoring in Philosophy. From 2006–2008, he taught middle school English in Watts, California. He earned his M.A. in Education from Loyola Marymount University in 2008. From 2008-2010, Judge Shimeall worked in recruitment for Teach For America. Judge Shimeall then graduated from law school at Ohio State in 2013. While in law school, he served as the Executive Editor for the Ohio State Law Journal. After law school, Magistrate Judge Shimeall served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edmund A. Sargus, Jr., District Judge in the Southern District of Ohio. Judge Shimeall then worked in private practice for Brickler & Eckler LLP (now Bricker Graydon LLP) in the Litigation and Education practice groups. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Kimberly A. Jolson, Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of Ohio. In 2018, Judge Shimeall joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio as a criminal Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA). As an AUSA, Judge Shimeall represented the United States on a range of criminal matters, including gun trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud schemes, and violent crime.
